WORKTECH19 London was held at Queen Elizabeth Southbank Centre, London on Nov 27th & 28th and ECN was proud to be a partner once again.

WORKTECH attracts the biggest and brightest who gather to discuss the Future of Work and the Workplace alongside senior professionals from real estate, facilities, HR, technology, executive management, architecture and design, who share their knowledge and expertise.

This year, this uniquely focused event covered a mix of workplace strategy, technology and property, around people, space and culture. New trends, adoption of these trends, future workstyles, reinvigorating the workplace were some of the many topics that were discussed.

The key themes at this year’s events included:

  1. Experience; The emergence of Fintech in London has driven an explosion in the co-working sector with over 300 different operators in London alone.  With a new co-working space opening every 5 days, companies – large and small – must offer the best workplace experience to attract and retain talent.
  2. Community & wellbeing; to reinforce the above, 69% of millennials would trade salary for a better workplace environment.

The built environment is using digital technology – apps, portals, IoT – to improve their customer experience and brand credentials.  But in a world which has become weary from overexposure to digital devices, it is not as easy as it appears. The average smartphone has over 100 apps yet only around 10 get used on a weekly basis!

When you consider 50% of UK workers are suffering from “digital fatigue”, how do you communicate effectively with your building population? This digital fatigue was reflected in a recent ECN survey where 70% of occupiers indicated they did not know if their office building had any digital assets at all! (website, social media, apps etc)

ECN places human connectivity at the heart of today’s workplace through its digital content network, which allows asset owners/managers to communicate in real time with their occupiers thereby improving engagement and collaboration in the workplace.  Importantly, ECN’s digital content amplifies existing digital assets and does not require the building manager or occupiers to do anything at all
